Break's over.

So.....I've been on a bit of a blogging break. Why, you ask? [Admit it, you asked.] 

 Because it was my last summer with my girl before we can no longer deny she's an adult.

Because I haven't been feeling particularly interesting. 
Because work has been sucking the life outta me.
Because adding one more thing to my to do list ... just. no.

 And yet, here I am! 

 At the end of a summer that was full of change and experiences and fun and events, perhaps I should just bite the bullet and start a little series of recaps. 

 Going all the way back to mid-May, we had this happen at our house. 
Let's pretend I got everyone's permission to show this picture.
We had Prom Central here. Two of these girls got their hair and makeup done here, then the other two joined us for snacks and pictures before heading off to prom at Texas Stadium. (I know, that's not the real name now, but I don't care.)

 This is my baby girl and the dress she picked. Remember the also-rans? She picked the right one.
I do not even know how this happened. She was a toddler 14 minutes ago. 

Once there, they met up with friends and apparently had a great time! Midnight "breakfast" at Denny's (or iHop, I forget) and sleeping in on Saturday. 
We've been so blessed with our girl and her friends. They are such good girls who have their priorities straight and know what they want in life. I can't wait to see what they all do in the next few years!

 I could make this one entry about 10,000 words to catch up, but let's not. If the break is really over, I've got a half-dozen more things to post about. Here's hoping my days calm down enough that I'll actually do it!

 I've missed you!

    She's just beautiful, Traci! You must be so proud. Hope she's going off to school somewhere close. :)

      Julie, she's going to UNT, about 30 minutes from us, and living at home for at least this year. I'm sure the commute will get old, but she's gonna give it a shot!

Hello, strangers on the interweb! I'm still alive! I still have my Blogger account. Cheese, glorious cheese.

I totally love cheese. On stuff. By itself. Any kind (except Limburger, of course). Melted, cubed, sliced, crumbled. If it weren't for cheese (oh, and bacon) I could probably be vegan. But anyway... If you've been on many diets, and especially if you've done Weight Watchers, you already know that cheese is not exactly friendly to most point-counting or calorie-watching plans. It does have an offset with protein and calcium, but I realized it's probably worth a little research.  First, a visual. This is one ounce of each of these cheeses. Generally, an ounce is a serving size - a sandwich slice, a string cheese stick, those single serve snacks in a bag -- most of those are one ounce. It's a little hard to tell in a picture, but the "bars" like Gouda and Havarti look like about the same amount in an ounce, but parmesan looks like a much more when it's piled up like this. B f l Day 11: Let's talk TV.

In the life of this blog, I've mentioned TV shows that I'm watching, or want to watch, or never want to watch, or not sure if I've watched...in a nutshell, I watch too much TV. But it's such cheap entertainment! I don't have to leave my house! I can pretend I'm only going to watch something when I'm on the treadmill, then finish the season on the couch. And now, with Netflix and Amazon and Hulu, I never have to watch more than a few commercials EVER. AGAIN. What's not to love? On that note (and because I'm truly stuck for blogging ideas on this silly Lent idea I had), let's see what TV we can talk about. Current likes : Let's face it: I'm a follower. This list of my top shows will probably read like any other TV fan. Downton Abbey :    Love everything about this show. Oh, except for that killing off main characters without asking my permission thing. And the Daisy/Alfred/Ivy triangle that just annoyed me - but it's likely over
