All the things.

Okay, just five of the things going on for the last however many months anyway! [ETA before publish: I've been writing on this post since April. Ridiculous.] It's time for the annual semi-annual semi-monthly way-too-irregularly-to-be-taken-seriously-as-a-blogger post about where I've been and what I've been doing since my last post...in February (other than the cruise, that is). It's sad. It really is.  Here's what's been happening.  1. Back in April, when I started this list (don't judge), this was the big thing: Taken March 27...when I should have been planting flowers Then, in May, the other weather-related news took over: 1. The main street by our house; 2. Six Flags river; 3. Trinity River in Dallas Photo credit: Google This has honestly been the strangest weather year I can remember. In early June, we finally were able to get in our pool, we aren't on water-rationing, and my yard looks amazing! We can't see the neighbor...

B f L Day 14: C'mon Spring. I insist.

Image
I shamelessly stole this from somewhere on the web. As I may have mentioned, I'm done with winter. Done. I've decided that Spring just doesn't know it's her time to shine, so I'm helping.  Sunday it was about 45 and windy, but by golly that grill was going and we had fajitas. See, Spring? We remember you and look forward to your return. Bug and I have been doing a workout series for the last week or so. Today we did the entire thing outside. Take that, Winter. It consisted of about 225 squats. We will not be moving tomorrow, so I won't care what the weather is. Right now, I'm wearing a sundress and NO fuzzy socks. I believe this is the first time my feet have been uncovered for more than 10 minutes since about November.  And I desperately need a pedicure.  I planted my herbs a couple of weeks ago and I've been babying them since. Eventually, they will be so happy and look like this. Let's all join in a chorus "Spring has sprung...

Workout Recap, part deux

Image
[No, I don't speak French. Other than to pardon it, that is. And what will I do after three? I don't know what comes next...] I capped off the week with a pretty decent run this morning. It was a few degrees cooler (78 instead of 82) and overcast. That made the humidity ridiculous, but it wasn't unbearably hot. Oh, and this was at 7:15 in the morning. Gotta love Texas summers. I've been struggling to run much farther than 2 miles lately, almost since finishing the 5K (3.1 miles) back in March. I am sure it's mental, not physical, as I only occasionally have twinges in my calves or hips, and no lasting pain from a run. So why do I have to lecture myself for half an hour before I'll actually get out of the house? It's not too early. It's not too late. It's not too hot (yet). You're not that tired. You've done three miles before. It is NOT all uphill. No one laughs when they drive by you. You can get a new playlist later. Yes, the ...

Week 13 Scorecard. And springtime in Texas.

Well, today has been crazy. Texas in the spring is always interesting, but today was a bit more interesting than I find comfortable. Stole this from the local TV station images: NOT my photo - credit to WFAA TV Thankfully this was not our neighborhood, but it wasn't very far away. Semi-trailers being tossed like Matchbox cars, entire roofs being torn off houses. One tornado stayed on the ground for 20-30 minutes - that's just not how it usually works. We're safe and sound -- all the major stuff went around us this time. It's so nerve-wracking to be home alone, knowing that my child is at school (probably the safest place for her, but still), trying to work while watching the weather. And knowing she was going to be driving home in a little while? Makes a momma crazy. At least the hubs didn't take the motorcycle today. In multiple tornadoes, in several cities, for a couple of hours, millions of dollars in damage was done. And no deaths or serious injuries h...
